HOT! Pizza Hut Rated Worst Place to Eat
by Iris Ka-Yan Ng on 7 October, 2009

Food experts from Good Food Guide tested out 6 different chains in the hope of finding the perfect pizza. They were in for a ride.

The infamous margherita pizza was to be sampled for this little experiment, and the 6 giants in pizza-making to be tried are: Pizza Hut, Prezzo, Zizzi, Ask, Frankie & Benny’s, and Pizza Express.
k
Unsurprisingly, they were all rated “red” in the Food Standard Agency (FSA) traffic light system for salt and saturated fat.
k
So, what else is new?
k
Pizza Hut was found to serve the worst pizzas, with the poorest restaurant service. With a score of only 11 out of 45, food experts say it is “best avoided“.
k
Not only were they bad quality, but they were also the smallest in size, with the highest amount of fat. It was found that their pizzas contained 70% of a woman’s maximum daily allowance of saturated fat.
k
Frankie & Benny’s came 5th, with poor taste and a low quality of restaurant service. It came to tie with Pizza Hut at 11 points.
k
Ask came second, with 27 out of 45. The reviewers mostly commented on the restaurant service quality. I guess it’s the experience, as much as the taste!
k
Zizzi followed with 26, as it would appear they don’t save on ingredients. Food experts complimented Zizzi, saying that “the addition of the fresh herbs was a nice touch”.
k
Prezzo was a close rival, with 25.5. The thing that was the downer for Prezzo was the inconsistency between branches.
k
Pizza Express came top for taste, earning 30.5 out of 45 points, impressing the critics with their “flavoursome” and “well-balanced” pizzas. They were also the lowest in fat out of all 6 dishes.

All the pizzas’ nutritional values can be found on Which? magazine.

Healthy eating is hard when feel-good food is as tempting as this - but perhaps checking out the salt level at your favourite fast food chains might help control the cravings!

But of course, you need to indulge yourself sometimes. For that, the Americans know how to do it right!
